One billion people all over the world had their TV sets turned on Friday, in order to watch the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, but almost no Americans among them. The NBC Universal station, which paid record amount of 2.2 billion dollars for broadcasting rights of the Olympics in the US territory, decided not to broadcast live the extravagant spectacle, directed by Danny Boyle, but rather to show a replay in the prime time, i.e. at 7.30 pm, local time. So, while the rest f the world was watching the spectacle, the Americans had to resort to Internet channels and see what was going on in the Olympic Stadium in London.
