The exhibition "Moments to Remember: Olympism in Serbia 1912-2012" has been opened in the Museum of Yugoslav History. Our own Milena Gluvacevic discussed it with Director of the Sports and Olympism Fund Natasa Jankovic.
In the year that marks the centenary of Serbia’s first participation at the Olympics, just before the Games begin in London this year, visitors have the opportunity to see the exhibition entitled "Moments to Remember: Olympism in Serbia 1912-2012" in the Museum of Yugoslav History where they can learn about history of the Olympic Games in Serbia, Director of the Sports and Olympism Fund Natasa Jankovic stated for our radio.
According to our collocutor, sports enthusiasts will be able to find out all the details on the development of the Olympism, the success of our athletes, from the creation of the Serbian Olympic Club in 1910, the first event in Stockholm where they participated as representatives of Serbia in 1912, the first medal won in Paris in 1924, all the way to the Games in Beijing in 2008.
The exhibition will be visually divided into three sections, while its visitors will have an opportunity to get familiar with the history of Olympism - the creation of the Olympic Games, their revival, and the development of the idea of Olympism until today.
In addition to the most important exhibits from the collection of the Sports and Olympism Fund and the Olympic Committee of Serbia that will be on display, some 20 Olympians loaned their medals, jerseys, souvenirs, accreditations, and tickets for the purposes of the exhibition.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to see a special part of the exhibition, with Olympic torches from the Summer Olympics that have been maintained from 1936 to 2012. This one-of-a-kind collection, whose owner is Athanasios Kritsinelis, will be on display until July 22.
The exhibition "Moments to remember: Olympism in Serbia 1912-2012" will last until August 26
