At a ceremony in the Serbian Parliament building, President Tomislav Nikolić addressed Defence and Security Studies and General Staff graduates and told them that Serbia was actively contributing to security and stability in the region, in cooperation with the international community and by respecting the international law. He emphasized that the Serbian Army cooperated with other armies in the establishment of peace and battle against terrorism. More from Jelena Simić.
Through integration into European trends, Serbia has a chance of progressing in all the segments and Serbian Army members are enabled to show their qualities internationally, said Nikolić, requesting of the officers to continue with the glorious military tradition of Serbia. The quality of Serbian military studies and the leadership position of the Military Academy in the region is also confirmed by the fact that students come from foreign countries as well.
The General Staff training in the National Defence School of the Military Academy represents the third level of education after undergraduate studies of officers from the Defence Ministry and the Serbian Army and officers from the armed forces of foreign countries. 39 officers have been educated in the 55th class. At the ceremony, graduates from the Defence and Security Studies were promoted as well and were presented recognitions by Defence Minister Dragan Šutanovac. The Defence and Security Studies represent a new form of education in the National Defence School of the Military Academy. Their aim is to reach and prepare students from Serbia and the region to assume high offices in the national security system.
